Care and Share, a nonprofit charitable organization founded in 1990 by a group of Malayalis in Chicago, made a donation in July to P. S. Mission Hospital in India, so the hospital could purchase a new dialysis machine.

P. S. Mission Hospital is a charitable hospital that operates in Maradu, Ernakulam, and serves poor patients in and around the Cochin area.

Care and Share’s mission is to initiate, support and execute projects that reach out to people in dire need of help for sustenance. With an administrative expense ratio of less than 0.5 percent, the nonprofit has succeeded in raising more than $1.6 million to date for various projects around the world, predominantly in India.

Today, Care and Share’s board of directors is spread across the United States. Since 2001, the Kerala Chapter of Care and Share has been conceiving and executing various charity projects across the state of Kerala.
