ICICI Bank Profit Up 17% On Better Loans

MUMBAI (AP) — ICICI Bank, India’s largest private sector bank, said July 31 that quarterly profit rose 17 percent, as it cut costs and eliminated bad loans amid revived credit demand. Net profit in the quarter ended June 30 was Rs. 10.3 billion ($221 million), roughly in line with expectations, up from Rs. 8.78 billion ($189 million) in the year ago period, the company said.
