MUMBAI—Rajkumar Hirani’s wife Manjeet Hirani’s book “How To Be A Human” was launched on Mar. 5. Aamir Khan formally launched the book based on the dog the Hiranis adopted during the making of Khan’s “PK.” Rajkumar Hirani along with veteran journalist Anupama Chopra (Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s wife) were present at the launch.

Khan shared his experiences with his pets. “I think they are wonderful, It never occurred to me until Manjeet wrote the book, and I read its title. It is so true that we can learn so much from our pets. Because they are really very less judgmental than we are. We are judgmental on many things for many reasons on which we really don’t need to be so. But animals are judgmental only when concerned about their survival. Like a deer when it sees a lion that might kill it.”

Manjeet spoke at length about her book and her experiences with her pet Buddy Hirani. “The major thing that I’ve learned from Buddy is that when there are guests in the house, Buddy always wants to be there to greet all the guests at the door. Some people do not like dogs, so we ask Buddy to go inside, but when you ask him to go away, he just doesn’t want to budge. He’ll sit like a rock, so then we get some chicken sticks, and we send him in, but when the guests are gone, he comes back with the same energy as if nothing has happened. He has forgotten that, and he doesn’t show any attitude, which we all do.” Manjeet Hirani is a pilot, influencer, and speaker.

In her book, Manjeet has written about attachment, parenting, and Karma among other things, and how having a dog in the house can alter your perspective and change the way you experience life.
