NEW DELHI — Fans of megastar Amitabh Bachchan thronged the streets of Connaught Place Feb. 2 to catch a glimpse of their favorite actor, resulting in huge traffic snarls. The 72-year-old actor was in the capital to promote his upcoming film “Shamitabh” along with co-stars Dhanush and debutante actress Akshara Haasan.

The “Bhoothnath Returns” star attended a press conference in PVR Plaza and when he made his way out of the theatre, he was greeted by thousands of fans waiting outside to click a picture of the actor.

The crazy admirers were standing on the pillars and crowded the street thereby causing a chaotic situation outside the multiplex which was later managed by police.

The actor, looking dapper in a brown bandhgala, waved his fans, who were hooting, as he somehow managed to make his way out of the place that was well guarded by bouncers.

Apart from Bachchan, the girls in the crowd went mad for “Raanjhana” star Dhanush, who plays an actor in the R. Balki-directed film. Dhanush, 31, donned a shimmery black suit with black shades. Akshara opted for a black leather jacket and jeggings.

“I saw Dhanush. He was munching popcorn,” a teenage girl told her friend. The chaos outside the multiplex gave a tough time to police, who struggled to manage the crowd and traffic.
