MUMBAI — Arjun Kapoor has been signed for a comedy titled “Mubaraka.” For the first time, he will share screen space with his real-life paternal uncle (chacha) Anil Kapoor.

The film is being directed by Anees Bazmee and written by Milap Zaveri. The film was originally supposed to be directed by Zaveri himself, but, after the debacle of his last film “Mastizaade,” it made the producers opt for Bazmee, himself an ace comic writer. Also, initially, Abhishek Bachchan was supposed to do the role now being played by Arjun Kapoor.

The film is currently in the scripting stage, and the final draft is expected to be ready by July. It will be produced by Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde.
