MUMBAI — Within six days of its release, “Bahubali 2 — The Conclusion,” has netted collections that have surpassed the lifetime collections of “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” (Rs. 210 crore), and is now already among the top 10 Hindi grossers of all times. On May 3, the film collected Rs. 24 crore more. With this, the magnum opus now stands at Rs. 221 crore.

It now joins those films for which there has been all-round massive hysteria, which means “Sholay” (1975), “Hum Aapke Hain Koun!” (1994) and “Gadar —Ek Prem Katha” (2001) in recent times. But the effortless and seemingly magical way in which these records are being broken calls for a case study in itself.

By May 4, it will have crossed the next milestone, that of “Kick,” which is at Rs. 232 crore. By the beginning of week two, it will be where “Dhoom:3” was, at Rs. 284 crore. After that, “Sultan” at Rs. 301.5 crore, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” at Rs. 321 crore, “PK” at Rs. 340. 8 crore and “Dangal” at Rs. 387. 38 crore are all likely to end up following “Bahubali 2” eventually.

And let’s be clear: this is all about the HINDI version alone!

Overall, the film is expected to make over Rs. 1000 crore and start a new club.

So here are the club pioneers:

“Ghajini” (2008): Rs. 100 crore

“3 Idiots” (2009): Rs. 200 crore

“PK” (2014): Rs. 300 crore

“Dangal” – Rs. 387.38 crore

 “PK” – Rs. 340.80 crore

“Sultan” – Rs. 301.50 crore

“Bahubali 2 — The Conclusion”: Rs. 400 to Rs. 1000 crore!
