Rock On!! 2

MUMBAI — The teaser trailer for Farhan Akhtar’s “Rock On!! 2” is out, and it’s looking grittier than ever. Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli as Aditya, Joe and KD are returning with the rock band Magik with an aim to tell the youth, “Every generation has its voice” — the tagline of the drama.

A major change in the sequel to “Rock On!!” is the addition of two new Magik members in the form of Shraddha Kapoor as Jiah and Shashank Arora as Uday.

The over one-minute teaser takes off from where the first film ended — Magik’s return to stage — but looks like it is just a memory for the now lost, haggard-looking Aditya.

At one point in the teaser, when Aditya tells a confused, dejected Jiah to sing as “the music in her is rare to find,” it almost feels like he himself needs that moment of inspiration to get back to music.

The teaser features both Akhtar and Kapoor’s vocals to the title track. The music of the first film became a rage when it came out, and fans are expecting for composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy to recreate their magic with the new one.

Ahead of the release of the teaser, Akhtar created more hype by releasing the film's second poster.

At the helm of the movie is debutant Shujaat Saudagar, who came on board after the first film’s director Abhishek Kapoor had a fallout with producers Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani.

Prachi Desai and Shahana Goswami will reprise their roles from the original. “Rock On!! 2” is slated to hit theaters Nov. 11.
