MUMBAI — Team “Force 2” launched its trailer Sept. 29 at PVR Juhu. Ajit Andhare of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah and director Abhinay Deo along with the star cast comprising John Abraham, Sonakshi Sinha and Tahir Raj Bhasin were present.

The film is a sequel to the 2011 Shah success “Force,” and this time it is a story about two Indian espionage (RAW) agents played by Abraham and Sinha, who strive together to defeat the antagonist, played by Bhasin of “Mardaani” fame, who is a national threat.

Producer Shah opened the proceedings by speaking about his journey from “Force” to “Force 2.”

He said: “One thing I want to very emphatically say is that ‘Force 2’ has become ‘Force 2’ because of my partner in crime, Abhinay Deo. He and I saw a certain vision for the film, and Abhinay sacrificed his entire fee as a director to make sure that the vision was not compromised. And that is why ‘Force 2’ looks the way it is.

"I also have my dear friend and my favorite heroine Sonakshi, who is doing a second film with me after ‘Holiday,’ and we got Tahir, a fantastic actor. It’s also going to be exciting to see John and Sonakshi together and against Tahir. My team has taken Abhinay’s vision as their vision and made it come true.”

Shah added: “In today’s world, the stories of the heroes from our forces are the most relevant stories. This is one such story with a great twist. While we were working on the research of the script, we came across many stories of great heroes of our various forces whose sacrifice has gone unsung. The facts were really shocking, and that made our script even more relevant.”

Deo said: “I believe that whatever starts well, ends well, and I think that’s exactly how the story began. We all came together to see that we must make a very good statement with the sequel of a film that was already a big success. The sequel has to be bigger, better and, story-wise, take it one step further. I think that’s exactly what Vipul, me, John, Sonakshi, Tahir and Ajit all of us have put together. It is the team that matters, and I think we really managed to put together a fantastic team whether it was shooting outside of India or shooting here.”

“One of the things I personally feel is that we seldom think or even talk about the people because of whom we are able to live a normal life,” Deo added. “It was this idea that got my writer Parveez and I completely intrigued. My film highlights this thought. RAW is a department that is almost invisible to us, and this is my earnest effort at giving a standing ovation to the unrecognized martyrs of our country.”

The film’s poster reads, “A dead soldier is a martyr… A dead spy is a traitor.” The trailer too has been dedicated to all the heroes who have sacrificed their lives for the nation. A special slide has been added to the trailer to salute these unrecognized martyrs,” says Deo.

It reads, “Dedicated to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country and yet remained unnamed and unrecognized.”

The cast also spoke about their on-set camaraderie, with Abraham emphasizing that the set was “full of positive energy.” Sinha added, “I was matching John step by step, and he was very encouraging,” while Bhasin noted: “For me, a lot of confidence came from the way my team treated me on sets. It felt like it was my 25th, not second film!”

Presented by Viacom18 Motion Pictures in association with Sunshine Pictures Pvt. Ltd. and JA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, the film releases Nov. 18.
