MUMBAI — Journalist, radio jockey and lyricist Vijay Akela has written a unique book called “Javed Akhtar Aur Main-Ek Dastavez,” in which he has recorded, filed and documented for posterity his meetings with noted lyricist, screenwriter and poet Javed Akhtar that speak of everything from work to social aspects and life.

The book is titled in English (as the book cover shows), with a back cover in English too, but the text is entirely in Hindi and Urdu. Akhtar’s ex-partner in screenwriting, Salim Khan, has put in a foreword. The book, published by the Film Writers’ Association, has an ISBN number of 9781535323956 and is priced at $11.83.

Akela’s most candid moment after all the meetings is summarized in his pre-book release statement in the preface, in which he says that he has not yet shown his book to Akhtar out of fear that he would make him do a rethink of part of the content!
