MUMBAI—Katrina Kaif is all set to launch her production house, after discussions with family friend Salman Khan. Her first film is likely to introduce her younger sister Isabel, who had appeared in the 2014 Hinglish film “Dr Cabbie” with Khan.

Deepika Padukone is said to have done a look test for Aanand L. Rai’s new film with Shah Rukh Khan.

“Running” will now be released as “Running Shaadi” as the popular portal “” had filed a case and the film’s makers, including co-producer Shoojit Sircar, undertook to execute the changes to enable the Taapsee-Amit Sadh film to release on time.

Amitabh Bachchan joins Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the super-hero Ayan Mukerji film “Dragon.” Here’s hoping he plays the powerful antagonist and not merely a character role.

Aamir Khan will play India’s first astronaut into space, Rakesh Sharma, in the film “Salute” produced jointly by Khan with Siddharth Roy Kapur as his independent debut as producer under Roy Kapur Films. Ad-man Mahesh Mathai, who last directed “Bhopal Express” in 1999, will direct the film.

Writer Akshat Verma of “Delhi Belly” fame is writing and directing “Kalakandi” (a tentative title), a black comedy made up of three stories, in which he plays a terminally-ill patient who decides to live it to the full. Amyra Dastur, Vijay Raaz, Deepak Dobriyal, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Sobhita Dhulipala also feature in the other stories.

Vikram Bhatt is now making “1921,” a period love story of a ghost whisperer (Zareen Khan). Bhatt sprained his ankle and pulled a muscle from a fall while location scouting at Leeds for the U.K.-based thriller.

The last Om Puri film, Rambhajjan Zindabaad” was refused certification, citing “direct and indirect references to politics in Uttar Pradesh, conversations degrading to women” and others aspects, the censors felt “made it unsuitable for public exhibition.”

At the recent song launch of “Badrinath Ki Dulhania,” Varun Dhawan pretended not to hear a scribe quoting Govinda’s recent diatribe against his father David Dhawan. The younger Dhawan has always idolized Salman Khan and this actor.

Bappi Lahiri “enjoyed” the re-creation of his ‘90s hit “Tama Tama” in “Badrinath Ki Dulhania” and calls Dhawan and Alia Bhatt his “favorite jodi.” He even re-recorded parts of the track and sent them for this film from Hollywood.

Navdeep Singh (of “NH 10”) will direct Saif Ali Khan in an action drama backed by Aanand L. Rai.

Sanya “Dangal” Malhotra will now star in Aanand L. Rai’s “Manmarziyaan” directed by Anurag Kashyap.

Abhishek Bachchan will star in Prabhudheva’s “Lefty” as well as in a romantic drama with Nishikant Kamat.

Multi-lingual actress Avani Modi, who did the Hindi film “Calendar Girls,” was in for a shock when she got hundreds of calls and messages on her phone that were related to Mumbai’s civic polls. Turned out her number was wrongly printed on ads issued by the civic body for election-related queries!
