MUMBAI—Aahana Kumra, who was noticed for her performance in her recent release, “Lipstick Under My Burkha,” started her journey as a theater student under the guidance of veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, and is currently working with him in a play titled, “The Father,” which has already got a good response from the audience.

The Lucknow-born actress shared how Shah has made a huge impact in her life. The actress developed a passion for acting at a young age by involving herself with Prithvi Theater in Mumbai, where she eventually realized that stage was her first love. She soon became a student of Shah in 2006 and in just a span of three years, the actress worked with her mentor in his group Motley. Ever since, she not only was directed by him but he also became her adviser and mentor for life.

Talking about the bond, Kumra said, “Naseeruddin sir has a huge role to play in my career, he is that mentor to whom I go whenever I am in doubt. I have shared screen space with him in my first Indie film, “Sona Spa,” but I would love to share space with him again.  He is a phenomenal actor with so much of zeal towards cinema that every time when I am around him I have so much to learn. Sharing big screen space with Naseer-sir again will be like a dream come true.”

Kumra has also worked with Amitabh Bachchan in the television series, “Yudh,” from whom she learnt how, despite being such a big star, he remained so humble. Shah and Bachchan have both taught her that the only thing an artiste will be remembered for is his or her work.
