Ranveer Singh, who is known for his incredible energy on- and off-screen, was put it to test, literally, Jan. 25. The actor went without any sleep as he was shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s “Gully Boy” and a brand campaign without a break. He faced the camera for 12 hours for his film and the same amount for his commercial. And all this after a 14-hour workday just before that!
YRF’s Hrithik-Tiger action extravaganza set to release on Oct.2, 2019
Yash Raj Films’ action entertainer starring Hrithik Roshan , Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor is set to release now on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, 2019! Roshan plays Shroff’s guru in this slick, face-off thriller, and visual spectacle. The film is set to go on floors this August and shooting will wrap by the end of February 2019.
Rumors are that the film was to be launched earlier, but producer Aditya Chopra did not relish the script and film’s vision at all. The director, Siddharth Anand, has made two tepid successes and a flop for Chopra and has never made a hit even outside – his Roshan film “Bang Bang!” collected Rs 180 crore, but on a production budget higher than that!
Rajkumar Hirani’s Dutt biopic on hold?
Rajkumar Hirani’s as-yet-untitled Sanjay Dutt biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor as Dutt and has been reportedly put on hold again. Apparently, Hirani is not happy with what has been shot and how it has turned out different from the way it was planned. A portal reports that Hirani is also not happy with having to gloss over Dutt’s love-life. In any case, the script is also avoiding the controversial zones of the actor’s life. So we wonder what remains? A source told the portal, “It started off as a no-holds-barred honest and brutal look at Sanjay Dutt’s life. It’s not that anymore.”
Shweta Basu Prasad in ‘The Tashkent Files’
Shweta Basu Prasad, who was last seen essaying the role of a simple, down-to-earth housewife in “Badrinath Ki Dulhania,” will be portraying the role of a fierce scribe who helps in investigating the case in “The Tashkent Files.” Prasad stated, “The best part about being an actor is the fact that one can live so many lives in one. I enjoy portraying different characters, whether it was the twin role in “Makdee,” a doting sister using sign language to communicate in “Iqbal,” “Badrinath Ki Dulhania” or as a warrior princess in my TV show “Chandra Nandini.” Raagini Phule in “The Tashkent Files” is different from anything she has done—a rookie journalist who has many shades.” The film is directed by Vivek Agnihotri and revolves around the mysterious death of the second Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri, with Naseeruddin Shah and Mithun Chakraborty heading the cast.
R Madhavan's real-life son is excited about “Breathe”
R. Madhavan, who debuted in the digital space with Amazon Original’s series “Breathe,” consulted his 12-year-old son Vedaant before signing the project. The film traces the journey of a father’s quest to save the life of his son. Madhavan was very touched by the script and took cues from his real-life son, saying, “He has an acute sense of what will work and his reactions have proved right all the time, so I value it immensely. He was all smiles and is very excited about “Breathe.” The show was launched as a trilingual 8-episode series simultaneously in over 200 countries Jan. 25.
Rakul Preet to romance Ajay Devgn in T-Series-Luv Films’ next
Rakul Preet Singh, who has made her name in South India and is ready with her second Hindi film “Aiyaary,” will next be seen romancing Ajay Devgn in Bhushan Kumar’s and Luv Ranjan’s contemporary rom-com. A quirky take on urban relationships, the film has the actress playing a feisty urban girl. Luv Ranjan, the writer and producer of the movie, says, “Rakul exudes wonderful energy. It didn’t take us long to bring her on board because her natural persona fits the character to the T.” Tabu also stars in the film releasing Dussehra, Oct. 19., 2018.
Jacqueline Fernandez shot for ‘Allah Duhai Hai’ from ‘Race 3’
The “Race” franchise is known for its amazing music as much as its twists. With “Allah Duhai Hai” being the anthem track, Jacqueline Fernandez recently shot this song that she has already featured in along with Deepika Padukone in “Race 2.” The third installment features Salman Khan, Bobby Deol and others and is produced by Salman Khan Films and Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films, It is directed by Remo D’Souza and will hit theatres on Eid 2018.

Which movie inspired Prabhas to take up acting?
Prabhas, who has played a double role in the “Bahubali” franchise, has won hearts globally with his acting skills. Interestingly, the superstar was inspired by one movie that made him take up acting: the 1976 Telugu movie “Bhakta Kannappa.” The classic is based on the life of a Shiva devotee – and the actor in real life is a Shiva bhakta (devotee) as well. The actor’s character is also of a Shiva bhakta in “Bahubali.”
Ashutosh Gowariker’s next is an adaptation
Ashutosh Gowariker’s next project will be an adaptation of Paresh Rawal’s well-known play “Dear Father.” The Marathi version of the play is already being adapted into a film titled “Aapla Manus,” produced by Ajay Devgn, and stars Nana Patekar. Gowariker’s movie will go on floors in May, and Paresh Rawal has been signed to play the double role of the protagonist.
Rawal told a Mumbai tabloid, “It was originally a Marathi play called “Katkon Trikon.” I did the Gujarati version. Ashutosh saw it and told me he wanted to turn it into a film. The project is now taking shape, and we plan to go on the floors by May. The Marathi play happened a long time ago, but the Gujarati and Hindi versions are still being staged. We have completed more than 500 shows.”
Hitika, producer Vijay Galani’s daughter, to be introduced by Sajid Nadiadwala
Sajid Nadiadwala, who gave us two debutants in 2014 – Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon – with the Sabbir Khan-directed “Heropanti,” plans to launch two newcomers this year. Suniel Shetty’s son, Ahaan, will play the leading man in one of his upcoming projects, Nadiadwala will also be launching producer Vijay Galani’s daughter, Hitika.“I’ve know Sajid- sir since I was a kid. I practically grew up watching his films being made, as he and my father are best friends, and he has always treated me like his own daughter,” says Hitika, who graduated in Economics from a city college four months ago. She has trained in Kathak, learned freestyle and Hip-Hop dance forms, and has also undergone several acting workshops alongside studies.
Shahid Kapoor might star in “Arjun Reddy” Hindi remake
Last year’s critically-acclaimed Telugu film “Arjun Reddy,” a contemporary take on “Devdas,” which is on love and suffering in its rawest form, is set to be remade in Hindi. Debutant director Sandeep Reddy Vanga will direct the remake as well. Shahid Kapoor is likely to land the role, though right now, he is committed to Imtiaz Ali’s next. The film revolves around a medical surgeon with anger issues. He turns to alcohol and drugs when the girl he is madly in love with is forced to marry another man.
Esha Gupta to raise funds for the cause of sportswomen in villages
Trying to bring relief to aspiring sportswomen in villages, Esha Gupta will be launching a football team/academy that will take care of their basic amenities such as nutrition, playgrounds, uniforms, sports gear et al., reports a portal. The actress will be collaborating with a social activist from Delhi, who works closely with a number of NGOs in villages in North India. Gupta will be auctioning her clothes and bags to raise funds and garner support to bring Indian sports talent on the global map.
Gupta says, “I am looking to assemble and launch a football team of girls. There are young girls who have the talent but lack amenities. I’m hoping that our efforts will encourage them.”

Thanks to the cascading effect of “Padmaavat,” at least six films’ releases have been reshuffled, and this is one of them. Instead of Mar. 9, it will now release Apr. 6.
