MUMBAI—Producer Ramesh Taurani of Tips Films, which also runs an artiste management department for many years, actually was the first to launch Preity Zinta long before. Over 20 years ago, they signed her for “Kya Kehna” as soon as her maiden film with Shekhar Kapur fizzled out after announcement. Taurani was also magnanimous enough to let her “Dil Se…” release first, when “Kya Kehna” was delayed, and in fact, his production “Soldier” released the same year as the South film (1998) and proved her first hit.

Later, Zinta also starred in “Dil Hai Tumhaara” (2002), a success, and even “Kya Kehna” finally made it in 2000 and was a hit. Their friendship has remained strong since and Taurani gave her a surprise birthday party on Jan. 31 on her 43rd birthday on the sets of “Race 3.” Zinta apparently keeps visiting Tips’ shoots frequently, and two more very old friends of her, Salman Khan (whom she adores) and Bobby Deol (who was her hero in “Soldier”) were also present along with Sonakshi Sinha, who was also invited, and Iulia Vantur.

Zinta has had a special association with Khan – she willingly agreed to a small cameo in his home production “Main Aur Mrs. Khanna” and also roped him in for her own film “Ishqk In Paris” for a cameo. In Bobby Deol’s home production “Dillagi,” she had also done a cameo opposite him.

Though missed by her fans, Zinta’s strength has been her wide circle of relationships, thanks to her warm nature, which spawn the Roshans, Shah Rukh Khan, many more actors, filmmakers, and actresses. This is one comeback we badly await.
