Priyanka Chopra’s ambitious project “Mary Kom,” directed by Omung Kumar, which released in theaters Sep. 5, has managed to do good business at the box office.
The biopic on five-time world champion M.C.Mary Kom, earned Rs. 8.02 crore on the opening day (Friday), Rs. 9.2 crore on Saturday and Rs 10 crore on Sunday. It has now become the highest grossing weekend for a film helmed by a female star, with total box office collections of over Rs. 27 crore.
Priyanka, who has been nervous about the box office performance of the film, is happy with the response from the audience. "What a weekend for #MaryKom . Thank you all.. I truly hope that the story of our true champ @MangteC has a wonderful run at the box office,” Chopra wrote on Twitter.
