MUMBAI— The latest update on the “Ragini MMS” franchise is that its makers, Balaji Telefilms, have now decided to take the series ahead under their web label of Balaji Alt.

Reportedly, the original “Ragini MMS” (2011) was inspired by the 2007 American supernatural horror film “Paranormal Activity,” but it was also based on the real story of a girl from Delhi named Deepika. The film, which starred Rajkummar Rao and Kainaz Motivala, went on to be a whopper hit, earning Rs. 13 crore nett on a shoestring budget of a mere Rs. 2 crore!

The makers then made “Ragini MMS 2,” which had Sunny Leone and newcomer Saahil Prem in the lead roles, and was a tepid success.

Recently Balaji Alt launched a seductive poster with the caption “Ragini MMS Returns with a bang! Sex meets horror. Does it ring a bell? #Guesswhosback. Stay tuned. Streaming soon! #ALTBalajiOriginal.”

This time, the story will be titled as “Ragini MMS 2.2.” And it is Riya Sen who will be making her digital debut. As for the story, it will be revolving around the life of Simran (Sen) and Ragini (who will be played by Karishma Sharma).

When asked why she chose to be a part of the web series, Sen, in a media release, said that around three years back, she had wanted to venture into the web domain. Besides that, she had wanted to be associated with Ekta Kapoor. Well, well, the nymphet of “Qayamat” (2003) and so many other films, mainly in erotic roles, will now enter this new field, hot as ever!
