MUMBAI—Rani Mukerji’s forthcoming film is an uplifting, inspiring entertainer. Yash Raj Films’ “Hichki” (Hiccup) celebrates self-belief, resilience of human spirit and hope. The film is about turning disadvantages into opportunities and staring at challenges and ultimately winning over them.
Mukerji plays Naina Mathur, who has a nervous system disorder called Tourette Syndrome that causes an individual to make involuntary, repetitive movements or sounds.
The Aditya Chopra presentation, YRF’s “Hichki” has been directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra and produced by Maneesh Sharma with music by Jasleen Royal. The film is set to release on Feb. 23, 2018, and is Mukerji’s first film after the birth of her daughter Adira.
This is the second time Mukerji plays a physically challenged individual after “Black.” In “Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega,” she was shown to be in a coma due to an accident.
