MUMBAI — Actress and businesswoman Shilpa Shetty, who recently turned author with her book “The Great Indian Diet,” had much reason to celebrate as this health and fitness volume topped Amazon’s bestseller list and continues to remain one of the highest sellers.

Owing to the popularity of the book and the unprecedented orders, it will now be translated into Hindi and Marathi within the next six months and will also release in Dubai, the United Kingdom and U.S. by the end of this year.

Shetty has reportedly been approached by the publishing house to author two more books for them, both on the subject of food, and health and wellness — topics with which the actress has become synonymous. Though she has never had major ambitions to write, Shetty always wanted to inspire people to live healthier, more wholesome lives and is ecstatic that her book is fulfilling that dream.

Meanwhile, Sonali Bendre also celebrated the success of her book “The Modern Gurukul.” Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis with his wife, Amruta Fadnavis (one of the singers in “Jai Gangaajal”), were the guests of honor. The event was also attended by Twinkle Khanna (whose 2015 book “Mrs. Funnybones” is a bestseller on Penguin too), Manish Malhotra, Madhoo, Neelam and Shaina NC.

Well, if the pen is mightier than the sword, the women are sure mightier than the men — in the matter of writing successful books on diverse topics!
