MUMBAI — After Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Yami Gautam will star in a film in the series. “Sarkar 3,” directed by Ram Gopal Varma, has Gautam in the third film in the 2005 franchise, of which “Sarkar Raj” had flopped in 2008. Amitabh Bachchan plays the title role.
Gautam, who made a mark with her performance in her debut film “Vicky Donor” but did not make much headway later, is also starring opposite Hrithik Roshan in “Kaabil,” directed by Sanjay Gupta. Gautam is set to play an intense character in both films — in “Kaabil,” she plays a blind person.
Gautam shared: “‘Sarkar 3’ will be my first sequel, making it very special for me. My character in the film allows me to offer something very new to the audience.”
Varma has even tweeted her look in the film.
“Sarkar 3” has an ensemble cast. While negotiations with Suniel Shetty have reportedly not worked out, the stars include Jackie Shroff as the principal baddie and Ronit Roy as Gokul Satam, the right hand of Subhash Nagre (Sarkar’s actual name). Varma added that Manoj Bajpayee’s character will be loosely based on Arvind Kejriwal. Amit Sadh will be seen playing Nagre’s grandson, and Gautam, in the role of Annu Karkare, will be someone who wants to take revenge on Nagre for her father’s murder. Bharat Dabholkar and Rohini Hattangadi have also joined the cast.
