Fresh off his big win at the Golden Globes, Aziz Ansari is preparing for yet another honor, this time at the Directors Guild of America’s DGA Awards.

The Indian American actor’s “Master of None” has picked up two nominations at the 70th annual DGA Awards that will take place Feb. 3, 2018 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Ansari has been nominated in the ‘Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series’ category for “The Thief,” which he directed, and competing with him in the same category is Melina Matsoukas, for the “Thanksgiving” episode.

The two are up against Mike Judge, who has been nominated for an episode of HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” Beth McCarthy-Miller for HBO’s “Veep,” and Amy Sherman-Palladino, for an episode of Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

This is Ansari’s first DGA Award nomination.

On Jan. 7, Ansari became the first Asian American actor to win ‘Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy’ at the 75th edition of the Golden Globe Awards (see earlier India-West story here).

The Directors Guild of America has announced the nominees for the awards in categories spanning film, television, commercial, documentary and more.
