MUMBAI—Dhanush starrer “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir,” which released in France has been receiving tremendous love from audience and critics.

The film received standing ovation during its premiere, and the word of mouth has been strong. Dhanush, especially with his tremendous talent and charm, has been winning hearts across Europe.

Femme Actuelle has rated the film five stars, whereas 20 minutes, Closer, Direct Matin, Ecran Large, Elle, Tele Loisirs rated four stars and so on.

Speaking of working with Dhanush, director Ken Scott said, "When I worked with Dhanush I discovered a great actor and an amazing personality, and it was a great experience during the Paris premieres and the press screenings to realize that the French audience and media felt the same about him, and experienced the same delight and sense of wonder watching Dhanush in our film as I had directing it. My Canadian movie Starbuck was a hit in France some years ago, and I’m really enjoying starting the worldwide release of ‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir’ in this country which is close culturally to my own”

Speaking about it, producer said, “The film had tested well early on during the editing process with a test audience in Paris, so we knew it would be well received, but still it was a treat reading the first reviews that emphasized the humanism of the film, its warmth and comedic quality and underlined the discovery of an incredible comedian they mostly didn’t know before this film with Dhanush. Some of the biggest media like television channel TF1, Sunday paper Le Journal du Dimanche or the daily 20 minutes dedicated journalistic portraits to Dhanush. Audiences during premieres were enthusiastic, with a long standing ovation for the director and cast on Champs Elysées, and the first two days of release show that the film has a great word of mouth potential and that a diverse French audience nationwide tremendously enjoys it.”

The film is based on the novel of “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir who got trapped in an IKEA wardrobe” by Romain Puertolas.

Besides Dhanush, "The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir" also stars, Berenice Bejo, Barkhad Abdi (“Captain Phillips”), Erin Moriarty (“Blood Father”) and Abel Jafri (“Timbuktu”).

The film is produced by Brio Films, Vamonos Films, M! Capital Ventures, Little Red Car Films, Impact Films and Scope Pictures. Co-produced by TF1 Studio and Aleph Motion Pictures.
