After playing chef Ravi, a full-fledged series regular on the now cancelled Fox show, “Grandfathered,” Ravi Patel has been tapped to guest star on the upcoming 13th season of ABC’s medical drama, “Grey’s Anatomy,” according to a report in Deadline.

The Indian American actor and filmmaker, who will play Tamir Dahr, a nurse at the hospital, has an important role to play for at least one upcoming episode, with a possibility for more.

Patel, who also had guest roles on shows such as Netflix’s “Master of None” and TBS’ “Wrecked,” directed and acted in the popular and commercially viable comedy documentary, “Meet the Patels,” along with his sibling Geeta Patel. Fox Searchlight has acquired the rights to remake the comedic documentary, which breaks down how the process to get married in the Indian American community is adapting to modern technology. The sibling team will be co-writing and co-directing the remake.

The new season of the ABC hit premieres Sept. 22 at 8:00 p.m.
