“Singham Returns” was expected to do great business at the box office, and it has! The Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor-starrer made Rs. 32.09 crore (domestic market) on its first day (Aug. 15), and Rs. 21.05 crore on the second day (Aug. 16), taking its total earnings to Rs. 53.14 in just two days.
Continuing its great run, director Rohit Shetty’s action drama made Rs. 24.55 crore on the third day (Aug. 17), taking its total opening-weekend earnings to Rs. 77. 69 crore.
This makes the film Devgn’s biggest opener ever. The Indian Independence Day release received average ratings from the critics, but a better response from the audience.
This also means that Shetty continues his great run at the box office with yet another blockbuster after “Golmaal 3,” “Singham,” “Bol Bachchan” and “Chennai Express.”
