MUMBAI—Can a leopard change his spots? Kapil Sharma has seemingly regained his ‘attitude’ after Sony renewed his contract. After keeping several star guests waiting for hours in the past, even resorting to not showing up at all, the comedian-actor similarly irked the “Baadshaho” team on Aug. 27 by not reporting to work for their episode.
Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Ileana D’cruz and Esha Gupta were on the show's sets at the call-time of 11 am but left in 15 minutes after the host failed to show up.
A source told a popular tabloid, “The film’s team had been in touch with Kapil’s team. It was decided that the camera would roll at 11 am and Kapil’s team assured them that he would arrive on time. Even before the stars could leave from their respective residences, they were told that he was on his way from a hotel that was only 15 minutes of travel time from the studio.”
Later came the rude shock, when the film’s team was informed that the host had not woken up and that it would take at least two more hours for him to get ready and reach the venue.
Now, Devgn and team have no plans to return as their time is already blocked for other shows. Moreover, the turn of events on Sunday has upset them.
In the recent past, Sharma had bailed out of shooting with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma for “Jab Harry Met Sejal,” while dates with team “Mubarakan” and “Guest Iin London” had to be canceled on account of his ill-health. Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur were kept waiting for five hours during the promotion of “OK Jaanu,” and Sharma had turned up only after Kapoor had threatened to walk out.
Meanwhile, according to the source, the night before he was scheduled to shoot this time, Sharma was partying at a filmmaker friend’s birthday bash till 6 am and so could not wake up on time for the shoot. This is just about the nadir of unprofessionalism. Kapil Sharma and controversies seem to be inseparable of late!
Meanwhile, the experience of “Baadshaho” has had a cascading effect. After coming to know about the Sunday incident, the promotional episode of “Poster Boys” on “The Kapil Sharma Show” featuring Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade has been reportedly canceled.
