MUMBAI—“Kaun Banega Crorepati 9” begins on Sony Entertainment Television on Aug. 28. Once again, that familiar baritone voice saying “Deviyon aur sajjanon’ and “Lock kiya jaaye” will resonate across the nation as the famous hot seat will be thrown open yet again to aspirants pursuing their crorepati dream.
It’s time for Amitabh Bachchan to host the biggest show on Indian television once again, bursting this time with new lifelines and an array of technological innovations in a limited episode season. The hitherto Phone A Friend’ lifeline will be revamped this season to ‘Video A Friend.’ Additionally, an aptly titled new lifeline ‘Jodidaar’ has been introduced – wherein the participant can bring along a partner to join him or her on the coveted hot seat. The game will be made more exciting with the introduction of a jackpot question for Rs. 7 crore.
This will be an all or nothing deal, where all the remaining lifelines of the contestants will terminate. The digital currency will be transferred directly into the winner’s account via Axis Bank.
Keeping his promise of celebrating the commoner’s exemplary contribution to society, Bachchan will invite real-life heroes in special episodes. These individuals will not only be given an opportunity to play the game, but also be provided a platform to reach out to the country in support of their cause.
Viewers will get to reminisce the journey of “Kaun Banega Crorepati” on Indian television in a special Curtain Raiser episode to be telecast on Sony Entertainment Television on Aug. 25.
“Kaun Banega Crorepati” will also bring the game closer to the viewers by taking their engagement a notch higher. Jio subscribers can participate daily in the Ghar Baithe Jackpot Jeeto contest with a chance to win a Datsun Redi-GO car every day.
Produced by Big Synergy, “Kaun Banega Crorepati 9” is sponsored by Vivo, Jio, Ching’s, Datsun, Raymond, Axis Bank, Akash Tutorial, Big Bazar and Quick Heal. This year, the show received a record-breaking registration of 19.8 million over seven days.
Said Bachchan, “‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ celebrates the dreams and aspirations of the common man and their tryst with knowledge. The show is close to my heart, and I am glad to host its ninth edition on Sony Entertainment Television.”
