MUMBAI—It seems that comedians Zakir Khan, Hussain Dalal (also a writer) and Mallika Dua, who were mentors on Akshay Kumar’s show, “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” have been asked to leave the show owing to dismal TRPs (viewer ratings).

According to a report in Mid-Day, the comedians who rose to fame on the web have been replaced by actor Shreyas Talpade and director Sajid Khan.

The last few seasons were a big draw. But, this season did not kick off on a great note. The production channel and producers brainstormed and came up with these names. Talpade, however, was finalized only when the makers saw the chemistry between him and the host, when the “Golmaal Again” team came on the show.

The decision was taken after Kumar green-lit the replacements. Dua, Khan and Dalal have already shot for the Diwali special episodes, but after that, we will see Sajid Khan and Shreyas Talpade on the judges’ panel. Producer Ashvini Yardi told the tabloid, “We would like to thank the mentors for giving us our final contestants. We now move from mentors to judges Sajid and Shreyas.”

Now, that is what we call a ‘parting’ shot. But here’s hoping the TRPs pick up. And it is heartening to see Kumar and Khan back together with their differences ironed out after Khan’s indiscreet remarks on Kumar then ousted Khan from “Housefull 3.”
