MUMBAI — After enduring 15 weeks of ‘Pain in Spain,’ fighting with tigers and snakes, performing daredevil stunts and conquering multiple fears, Shantanu Maheshwari emerged as the winner of Season 8 of “Fear Factor — Khatron Ke Khiladi” on Aap Ka Colors.
Controversies, drama and adventure, the show that had it all, culminated with a grand finale with the same force with which it began. In keeping with his nickname of “Baby Shark,” Maheshwari walked away with the title after defeating Nia Sharma and Hina Khan. Maheshwari beat Khan in the final stunt by mere seven seconds!
While the season has always been full of adrenaline rush, the real ‘tadka’ was added to the finale episode when taskmaster Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn, and the cast of their “Golmaal Again”— Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade Tusshar and Tabu — performed for the finale.
Maheswari’s journey from Baby Shark to Khatron Ke Khiladi has been a rollercoaster ride. From being forced to sit in a van sprayed excessively with chili pepper spray to being dragged by jeeps he did everything to deserve the victory. He was daring and fearless despite having hydrophobia and a fear of heights. As a grand prize, Maheshwari takes home with him a whopping amount as well as a swanky new Jeep Compass.
Speaking on his journey and victory, Maheshwari said, “Ever since I was young, I was fascinated with stunts and challenging tasks and always wanted to try my hand at them. When ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ came my way, I grabbed the opportunity without any hesitation. I was afraid of water and heights and this looked like a perfect way to overcome my phobias. The whole journey was not only challenging but extremely fun for me. Every stunt demanded a better, stronger me. The mantra to perform better each time was to keep my calm and focus all my energy only on the task at hand. I am very happy that I pushed myself to experiment something new and challenging. The Shantanu that went in was definitely not the same Shantanu that came out.”
India’s most loved adventure show with Rohit Shetty as host-cum-taskmaster redefined “Fear Factor” in the beautiful country of flamenco, fiesta and folklore – Spain. The show kick-started with Geeta Phogat, Hina Khan, Nia Sharma, Monica Dogra, Lopamudra Raut, Shiny Doshi, Shibani Dandekar, Manveer Gurjar, Karan Wahi, Rithvik Dhanjani, Maheshwari and Ravi Dubey. The stunts involved water and fire to heights, spiders, snakes and even tigers!
Manisha Sharma, programming head of Aap Ka Colors, said, “We’re extremely happy that “Khatron Ke Khiladi” has set a new benchmark by being one of the most watched TV shows across the country this year.”
