Although turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy may be the typical meal for most people on Thanksgiving Day, more and more Americans are turning to non-traditional foods, including Indian and Chinese dishes, on one of the biggest holidays of the year.

A report in TheStreet.com reveals the results of research conducted on delivery orders last holiday season by online and mobile food order company GrubHub. It found that people ordering in are twice as likely to eat Tandoori chicken on Thanksgiving than on any other day of the year.

The list of the top 15 surprising Thanksgiving foods and drinks also includes other Indian treats like chicken biryani, gulab jamun and mango lassi.

Indian restaurants staying open on Thanksgiving might be an explanation for the results, reported TheStreet.com.
