At the National Executive Council meeting of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh-USA in San Francisco, Calif., on Aug. 19, the following resolution was adopted unanimously:

“In light of HSS’s firm belief in the tenet, ‘The entire human race is one family’, we have been outraged at the ugly spectacle of White Supremacists chanting blatantly racist, anti-semitic, and homophobic slogans while wielding Confederate and Nazi flags in Charlottesville. We unequivocally condemn the Nazi ideologies promoted by the group and find abhorrent the exhibition of intolerance, hatred, and bigotry there.

“HSS enthusiastically stands with a vast majority of Americans who faithfully adhere to the principles of pluralism, mutual respect, and compassion. As Hindus, we go beyond tolerance in accepting, respecting, and celebrating people of different races, nationalities, and creeds.

“HSS, an organization dedicated to ‘maintaining Hindu values and traditions in harmony with the larger community’, calls upon all its members throughout the country to continue working tirelessly toward creating inclusion, harmony, and nonviolence in their communities.”
