South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley confirmed Aug. 12 that she is running for reelection, according to the New York Daily News.
The 41-year-old Indian American Republican governor announced she and her husband Michael "along with the kids have decided that I will be filing for re-election."
The formal kickoff to her reelection campaign will take place Aug. 26, for which she is bringing in such party heavyweights as fellow Republican Governors Bobby Jindal, from Louisiana, Texan Rick Perry and Scott Walker, from Wisconsin.
Senator Tim Scott, whom Haley appointed in 2012 to replace outgoing Senator Jim DeMint, will also join her for the event.
The GOP heavyweights will appear with Haley at a rally Aug. 26 at the BI-LO Center in downtown Greenville and will then join her at an exclusive fundraiser at the home of a local developer.
Tickets for the fundraiser range from $1,000 to $3,500.
