Randolph-Macon College Recruiting Indian Students

Sanjay Tandon, an alumnus of Randolph-Macon College.
  • ASHLAND, Virginia, United States

The admissions office of Randolph-Macon College will be represented in India for the first time this September, alongside other college and university representatives from throughout the United States, in partnership with the U.S. India Educational Foundation, the Institute of International Education and EducationUSA.

From Sept. 6 to 16, Charter Lindley, associate director of admissions at Randolph-Macon College, will travel to New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai. In each city, she will be visiting secondary schools and participating in college fairs.

“The purpose of this trip is to continue building our relationship with USIEF, IIE, and EdUSA,” Lindley stated in a press release, “but also to reach out to students and their families throughout India and connect them to Randolph-Macon College.”

One of Randolph-Macon’s many success stories is Sanjay Tandon, a 1984 alumnus of R-MC from Mumbai.  When assessing American colleges and deciding which to attend, Tandon looked for those which offered a first-class education and the ability to explore his career interest.

He was attracted to Randolph-Macon because of the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge undergraduate research in the area he ultimately chose as his career – semiconductor technology – and the chance to work individually with his professors.

Tandon earned his B.S. in physics and computer science from Randolph-Macon and credits his experience at the college with preparing him for success in graduate school, throughout his career and life.

He is currently director of Knowledge Services at Milpitas, Calif.-based KLA-Tencor Corporation.
