Indian American singer-songwriter and actress Nishi stars in New York City’s new Off-Broadway original musical, “Angels Giants Mosters,” written and directed by Philadelphia-based playwright Exavier Wardlaw Muhammad.
Nishi plays the character of the demon goddess Lilith, who was the first ever woman created by God.
Created equal to man, Lilith is a smart woman — smarter than the first man, Adam — and rejects his comical advances. She uses her beauty, intelligence and sexual wiles to take revenge upon a God, who she feels has cursed her to an eternal life, which she isn’t free to live as she wishes.
The Biblical-themed musical is based on the “Book of Enoch.”
For Nishi, a professional singer who released her first music album in 2005, the role of Lilith is one that is new and challenging. “I sing with vengeance; with power; with lust. Through Lilith, I not only portray her sexual and emotional depths, but also my own,” she said.
“Angels Giants Monsters” opens Nov. 25 for a limited three-night run at the Medicine Show Theater. For more information, visit www.angelsgiantsmonsters.com.
