BAYVP Celebrates Makarsankranti Festival

    The blue sky above Cardoza Park here was enlivened Jan. 14 by kites of different colors and hues as the Bay Area Youth Vaishnav Parivar celebrated the Makarsankranti festival. 

    The BAYVP event, recreating the kite festival of India in the Bay area, featured kites and firkis (string coated with resin made of glue and crushed glass) imported from India. The sold-out event reinforced BAYVP’s vision of “building a cultural bridge between generations.” 
     
    The kite flying event was followed by snacks.
