Virgilia Singh of Phoenix, Ariz., co-founder of So What’s On Your Plate, an organization that brings women together over a common love of food, has won one of six fellowships awarded to young women to attend the Sandbox Global Summit in Lisbon, Portugal. The event took place Jan. 20-22.
Bloomberg Businessweek and Sandbox, a global network of the most inspiring innovators below 30 years of age, sponsored the grants to help young women leaders “accelerate their ideas” and connect with other innovators around the world.
The grants included tuition and expenses. More than 100 nominations were received. Singh is a resident startup architect at Arizona State University’s Startup Labs, a university-wide initiative to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Phoenix area.
She is also the co-founder of Exhale Health, which promotes a holistic approach to better health, and GenJuice, a site that creates content, events and products related to “underground cultural blogs.”
When she was 19, Singh graduated from ASU with a B.A. in political science. The young Indian American entrepreneur has a master’s in global management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona.
