Billionaire industrialist Anil Ambani-led Reliance DreamWorks garnered a whopping 11 Oscar nominations including ones for best picture for “The Help” and “War Horse.”

This is the first time that an Indian entertainment conglomerate has secured so many nominations. The last nomination was for A.R. Rahman for best original score in 2010. The Oscars will be presented Feb. 26 in Los Angeles.

Ambani’s Reliance DreamWorks also counted nominations in the best actress and the best supporting actress categories for “The Help” as well as in the best Art Direction, Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing and Original Score categories for “War Horse,” plus one additional technical nomination for “Real Steel.”

Reliance Entertainment and Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks struck a mega deal in 2008 to make Hollywood films. Reliance Entertainment also owns 251 movie halls in America.

Ambani entered the entertainment business in 2006 and his movie production business in India has seen many top box office grossing hits including “3 Idiots,” “Rock On!” and “Singham.”
