Amritraj Named CEO of National Geographic Films
  • United States

National Geographic and ImageNation announced Dec. 22 that they would consolidate their partnership with Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park to finance and produce a wide array of National Geographic-themed entertainment projects designed for global distribution. Hyde Park will be the managing partner, and the venture will develop feature films, documentaries, and television series designed to entertain and inspire family audiences around the world, said a press release.

Tim Kelly, president of National Geographic Society, said in a statement, “This partnership makes sense from all angles, and by folding our current feature film effort into this new venture, we will be able to pursue bigger, more ambitious projects and expand into growing markets like India and China.”

Amritraj said that one of their priorities will be to make high-quality, fact-based feature films in the vein of “Gandhi,” “Chariots of Fire” and “Hotel Rwanda.” Hyde Park International will be the worldwide sales representative for the entity’s feature film slate.

“It’s a great honor, and very exciting,” Amritraj told India-West by phone. “We will make an announcement soon about our new projects.”
