‘Main Bhi Star’ Winner Enjoys Brush with Fame

     Actress Maya Desai, chosen as the winner of Western Union’s “Main Bhi Star” contest, describes the experience as “a dream come true. Hearing the words like ‘roll camera’ and ‘action’ in real life was just breathtaking.”

    After winning the contest, Desai — chosen from many Indian American actresses who auditioned in the U.S. — got a walk-on role in the hit Star TV series “Sasural Genda Phool.”
     
    “There were many good candidates who auditioned for the contest, and winning after a tough fight is always more satisfying. Moreover, I had never ever imagined I could represent the U.S. as an actress,” observed Desai.
    She called her experience with Star TV “just outstanding.”
     
    “They had made really good arrangements for me in India and every small thing was taken care of. I faced no problems and they delivered what they promised — the feel of being a star!”
