    • CIBER, Inc., a Greenwood Village, Colo.-based IT consulting firm, has named Vivek K. Marla (seen in photo below) senior VP and president of CIBER India. Formerly VP and head of Oracle Solution Services in India, he replaces Vir Bhanu, who will remain head of CIBER India’s domestic unit. 

    • Perminder “Pim” Dale has been appointed to head the European Technology Products Group at Port Washington, N.Y.-based Systemax. He was formerly VP and GM, global distribution channels, at Dell Computer Corp.; head, product marketing, Northern Europe, at Sun Microsystems; and worked at Siemens Nixdorf and Hewlett Packard.

    • Waltham, Mass.-based marketing software firm Affinnova has named Sarita Bhagwat to lead the financial services practice. She was head, innovation/product development, financial services unit, at TNS Custom Research; and a principal consultant at Abt Associates.
    • Karachi-born Omar Khan (seen in photo to left) has been appointed co-CEO at San Jose, Calif.-based mobile Internet services provider NetQin Mobile. He was global head, mobile center of excellence, at Citigroup; chief product and technology officer, Samsung Mobile; and VP, global supply chain/business operations, mobile devices, at Motorola. 
    • VC firm RockPort Capital, which has offices in Menlo Park, Calif., and Boston, has promoted Dhiraj Malkani to partner. Before joining the Boston office in 2006, he worked in product development posts at Bell Labs/Lucent Technologies. Malkani has B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Mumbai and Boston University, respectively, and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
    • HyperSolar, a Santa Barbara, Calif.-based provider of renewable hydrogen and natural gas using water and solar power, has named Vikram M. Pattarkine senior advisor, water treatment. He has a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Virginia Tech and an M. Tech. in chemical engineering from Nagpur University.
    • San Diego, Calif.-based Essentialis, a pharmaceutical firm developing medicines targeting the ATP-sensitive potassium channel, has named Mahendra G. Shah to the board. Partner at Vivo Ventures, he was founder and CEO at Nextwave Pharmaceuticals Pediatric and chairman and CEO of First Horizon Pharmaceuticals.
    • Suresh Narine has been appointed to the board at Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based oil/gas exploration firm CGX Energy. Born in Guyana, he is senior professor and director of the Trent Center for Biomaterials Research at Trent University in Canada.
    • Dr. Jatin Nathwani, executive director of the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy and Ontario Research Chair in Public Policy and Sustainable Energy at the University of Waterloo, Canada, has been named to the board at Montreal, Canada-based renewable-energy investment fund Inerjys Ventures.
    • Amit Basak, general partner at Staley Capital, has joined the board at Boston-based ClickSquared, a marketing software provider, after Staley led a $9 million funding round in the company.
