A French citizen allegedly pushed off a moving train by a Railways official has died from head injuries sustained from the fall. A traveling ticket examiner, Manoj Kumar, has been arrested and charged.
"The French national succumbed to his injuries. We have informed the French Embassy officials," a Railways official told PTI.
A three-member medical board had been constituted to conduct the postmortem examination of the victim, which will be videographed.
On April 29, Frank Wilfred, 23, was seen lying on the platform at the Karnal station after the Amritsar-bound Sachkhand Express train had started moving from the station, police said. Wilfred was taken to a hospital in Karnal from where he was taken to PGIMER in Chandigarh where he was kept in the ICU.
Police said Wilfred was pushed off the train.
A Railway Police official said they found in Kumar’s possession important documents of the Frenchman including his passport. He said the TTE came under suspicion because he had not informed the railway authorities about the incident and also concealed the fact that he had the Frenchman’s documents.
