We have heard of film success parties after even a few days. Now we have success parties of songs that are barely heard over and above the promotions!

Barely a fortnight after the music release of “Delhi Belly,” its irreverent song “Bhaag D.K. Bose D.K. Bose D.K. Bose” (repeated it sounds like an unpleasant expletive, which is the idea) was “celebrated” with a success party. The compensatory part was that the party was fun, and the team members had a blast with live performances of the music.

Crowded despite the downpour and held at Vie Lounge June 3, the party was skipped by producer Aamir Khan as he was away shooting for Reema Kagti’s film in Pondicherry. He sent his message through an audiovisual. Producers Kiran Rao and Ronnie Screwvala were great hosts, and thanked those present for braving the weather, while director Abhinay Deo also mingled around.

Music director Ram Sampath and his team played unplugged versions of some of the songs. Chetan Sashital presented “Saigal Blues,” an original song composed in the Saigal mould, as the first performance. Next came “Penchar Disco” by Sampath himself, who narrated the history behind the song. The groove then changed to “Bedardi Raja,” sung by Sona Mohapatra, wife of Ram Sampath and a known singer herself.

Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunal Roy Kapoor came on stage for the cause of the party, the song “Bhaag D.K. Bose.” The song took a second round on popular demand, and the musical part of the evening ended with an unheard funny version of “Penchar Disco.”

“Delhi Belly” hits theaters July 1.
