“Kaun Banega Crorepati 6” is here, starting Sep.7 at 2030 hours from Friday to Sunday. Sony Entertainment Television hosted a press conference with host Amitabh Bachchan Aug.29 at the J.W.Marriott Hotel to announce the show. This is Sony’s third season and the previous ones have been spectacularly successful.
“KBC,” India’s biggest reality game-show has created history on Indian television and this time, after the tag-lines, ‘Koi Bhi Sawaal Chhota Nahin Hota’ (No question is too unimportant / Season 4), and ‘Koi Bhi Insaan Chhota Nahin Hota’ (No human being is too insignificant / Season 5), it is ‘Sirf Gyaan Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dilata Hai’ (Only knowledge will empower you and give you your rights) as the central theme. The show was launched with the rendition of a powerful narrative on ‘Gyaan’ (knowledge) by Bachchan.
Speaking on the occasion N.P Singh, COO, Multi Screen Media (owners of Sony), said, “It is a glorious moment for all of us at Sony to bring back another power-packed season of the magnificent game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ on our network. This year’s theme ‘Sirf Gyaan Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dilata Hai’ celebrates knowledge as the greatest leveler in our society and a potent change agent.”
Added Sneha Rajani, Senior EVP and Business Head, Sony, “We are honoured to have the one and only Amitabh Bachchan hosting ‘KBC’ once again. He brings tremendous amount of charisma and his ability to connect with one and all with his sincerity and humility takes the show to another level. ‘KBC’ is not just a popular game-show, but a powerful platform where people from all across India, cutting across the demographic, geographic and social boundaries converge to celebrate common man’s triumph against all odds. It celebrates knowledge as a powerful tool that can help change his destiny.”
After the extraordinary response to the ‘KBC’ auditions this year, where approximately 1.5 crore people registered, the show is all set to entertain for 21 weekends with 58 episodes, that will comprise of special episodes with unique and distinct themes that will capture a little bit of India in every episode. The new slot, confessed the channel, reflected a bit of experimentation.
Speaking on the occasion, Bachchan said the show had given him insights into India and Indians, and there have been so many occasions when he has almost wept on the show, but had to control his tears for reasons of decorum.
