India's Leander Paes and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek on Friday entered the men's doubles final of the U.S. Open.
The fifth-seeded duo prevailed upon sixth-seeded Spaniards Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez when the latter retired with the scoreline reading 6-6.
They will face second-seeded Americans Bob and Mike Bryan in the final on Saturday.
The Bryan brothers beat the ninth-seeded Pakistani-Dutch pair of Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer 6-3, 6-4 in the other semifinal.
"I feel sorry for Marc. We all come here to entertain you and they are great guys," Paes said after the match. "I have a great partner. He really pushed me today and pulled the whip out, which is probably what I needed. We are looking forward to the final."
