Indian Filmmakers Honored at Nevada Film Festival

Artist-filmmaker Mumtaz Hussain has used his paintings in his film “Art=(love)2,” which will be honored at the upcoming Nevada Film Festival.

    Four Indian American filmmakers will receive honors at the 2012 Nevada Film Festival, to be held at the Rampart Casino at the Resort in Summerlin Nov. 30-Dec. 1. This year’s festival will see over $16,000 worth in cash & prizes given away to the winning filmmakers and screenwriters, said a spokesperson.

    Among the 10 winners of the 2012 Platinum Reel Award are Mumtaz Hussain (“Art=(love)2”) and Manan Singh Katohora (“9 Eleven”).

    Vijay Vemuri took a prize for his short film “Artificial” and Himesh Bhorgo won for his short “Jurisdiction”; while Abhinav Tiwari took one of 10 Golden Reel Awards for “OASS,” a drama about sex trafficking in Nepal, in the feature film category.
