3rd Annual Indian Comic Con Recognizes Comic Artists

Mario Miranda, a well loved Indian cartoonist and artist, will be honored posthumously at Comic Con India in February.
  • NEW DELHI, India

    The 3rd annual Indian Comics Convention will be flagged-off by honoring and felicitating the best Indian comics and comics creators of 2012 here at Dilli Haat Feb. 8-10. 

    Comic Con India, which was established in 2011, is the country’s only platform that attempts to give a boost to the comics industry in India. 

    “CCI Awards aim to recognize the work that the professionals in India’s Comics Industry do.  This is where we honor and felicitate the best Indian comics and comics creators, and give them the recognition they deserve among their peers,” said Comic Con India founder Jatin Varma.  

    The Comic Con India Lifetime Achievement Award 2013 will be given posthumously to the late Mario Miranda. 

    The jury includes author-artist Neelabh Banerjee, artist-animator Vaibhav Kumaresh and writer-filmmaker Abhishek Sharma. Nominations will be accepted in the following categories:

    Best Graphic Novel/Comic Book of the Year, Best Penciller-Inker, Best Colorist,   Best Cover, Best Writer, Best Continuing Graphic Series, Best Graphic Anthology, Best Children’s Illustrated Book, Best Children’s Illustrated Book, Best Publication For Children, Best Web Only and Digital Only Comic and Best Children’s Writer. 

    Winners will receive a Rs. 75,000 grant towards completion of the project and a publishing deal with Comic Con India.
