Guess it was time to be politically correct and a shade generous as we always tend to be. Pakistani contestant Nabeel Shaukat Ali was crowned winner of the Indo-Pak musical competition “Sur Kshetra” on Aap Ka Colors here Dec. 29.
After a close contest between Ali and Diljaan from India, wherein they were asked to prove themselves in a variety of songs, Ali walked home with the trophy “on account of his versatility.”
In the 16 week-long musical competition, Ali managed to win the hearts of the audience and judges alike – a great achievement for the boy from Lahore who dreamt of making it big in the world of singing since he was a child.
Ali has been trained under the guidance of Ghazal singer Ghulam and recently won the Azm-e-Alishan National Song Competition in Pakistan in 2011.
“Winning or losing is always the end of a competition. I believe what is important is the journey you take in the process of achieving that target,” said Ali.
“For this, I would give all the credit to our mentor Atif Aslam, for all the motivation and guidance he has shown us throughout the show,” he said.
As part of the win, the star has already won a chance to sing in Boney Kapoor’s upcoming film “No Entry Mein Entry.”
