• Dr. Akshay Goel has been named an assistant professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in West Virginia. Goel, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, cares for patients with a variety of orthopedic conditions, including arthritis, fractures, sports-related injuries and more. The Indian American physician earned his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in India. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in India, followed by fellowships in Alabama and Kentucky.

YuppTV, a global OTT firm for South-Asian entertainment, has roped in Rajesh Iyer, executive VP and business head of & TV–ZEEL Group, as the COO for APAC and Middle East. Iyer has worked in leadership roles at ZEEL, Viacom 18 and Star India.

Envoy Group Corp named Dr. Ravindranath Kancheria to the company’s board of directors. Kancheria is a distinguished and internationally recognized gastrointestinal endosurgeon and a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow. He is the founder and chairman of Global Hospitals Group, India’s first multi-organ transplant center. Kancheria has been the recipient of several lifetime achievement awards in India. He has also led an array of philanthropic initiatives, including the construction of a high school in an underserved district, housing facilities in under-resourced communities and a hospital for the poor.

• Fresno State philosophy professor Dr. Veena Howard, whose expertise is in South Asian religious traditions and Gandhi’s philosophy, was elected to the board of trustees for the Parliament of the World’s Religions, a leading global interfaith organization.

• Veteran author, journalist and racial justice activist Rinku Sen has been appointed to the board of directors of new media and publisher platform Maven. Sen served for 11 years as executive director of Race Forward, the center for racial justice innovation, and as the publisher of its award-winning news site, Colorlines.com. In 1996, Ms. Magazine named Sen one of 21 feminists to watch in the 21st century and in 2008 she was named by Utne Reader as one of 50 visionaries changing the world. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a master’s from Columbia University.

Securian Financial Group has named Sid Gandhi chief strategy and enterprise technology officer. Previously chief strategy and customer engagement officer, Gandhi is now charged with leading Securian’s technology transformation. Gandhi has also assumed leadership for the corporate Information Technology team as well as the business technology teams within Securian’s business units. The combined staff is approximately 800 people and growing.

Evariant hasnamed Sudhakar Gorti CTO. Gorti most recently served as Integra Connect’s CTO, where he was responsible for the development of specialty EHR, population health, care management, and revenue cycle management solutions. Prior to that he served as DMGT’s CTO, and before that the VP and CTO at Texas Health Resources. Gorti received his master's degree from IIT Bombay and went to Stanford University for his master's in computer science.
