• The board of directors of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation named Yatin Patel as co-chief investment officer for the Hilton Foundation. Patel joined the foundation in 2008 and most recently served as director of investments. Prior to joining the foundation, Patel was a senior manager in corporate development at Barclays PLC and a mergers and acquisitions analyst at Lazard Frères & Co. He earned an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley.

Taro Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. named Abhay Gandhi interim CEO. Gandhi will serve in the role until April when Uday Baldota takes over the permanent role. Gandhi, who was also named to the Taro board, was previously CEO of the Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. North America operations. Prior to Sun Pharma’s North America business, Gandhi held several leadership positions within Sun Pharma over the last 20 years, including most recently, as CEO of its India business.

NIN Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm led by Nin Desai, named Gurbaksh Chahal to its board. Chahal is a veteran entrepreneur with a history of domestic assault. He was accused of beating a woman inside his penthouse apartment in 2013 in an attack that was caught on security camera footage. Chahal arranged a deal in 2014 to plead guilty to lesser misdemeanor assault charges to avoid jail time, agreeing to three years of probation. Despite that NIN named Chahal to the position because he is a "die-hard internet entrepreneur."

• Dr. Ashok Balasubramanyam has been named VP for academic integration at Baylor College of Medicine and senior associate dean for academic affairs. He currently serves as interim chair of medicine, as well as professor of medicine and molecular and cellular biology. He received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and medical degree from St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore.

Univision Communications Inc. today announced that digital media executive and veteran editor Raju Narisetti has been named CEO for Gizmodo Media Group, a unit within the company’s Fusion Media Group. Narisetti previously was senior VP of Strategy at News Corp. Prior to that, Narisetti was managing editor of The Wall Street Journal Digital Network. Earlier, he served as managing editor of The Washington Post and founder and editor of India’s Mint newspaper. Narisetti has a M.A. in Journalism from Indiana University and a B.A. (Economics) and M.B.A. from India.

Lakshmikanth Ananth has been appointed to head Siemens' new next47 startup unit. Ananth joins Siemens from Hewlett Packard Pathfinder, the venture capital program at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. He has also worked in the venture capital and corporate development at Cisco. Ananth holds an M.B.A. from INSEAD Business School, a master's from Kansas State University and an undergraduate degree from Guindy Engineering College in India.

Elior Group named Sanjay Kumar CEO of Elior India. A graduate of the University of Delhi and IRMA Gujarat, Kumar was previously with Royal Dutch Shell Group.
