Hilton has named Shruti Gandhi Buckley as global head of the company’s Hampton by Hilton brand. The Indian American executive joined Hilton in early 2017 as vice president of strategic initiatives focused service brands, leading special projects and initiatives across the company’s Hampton by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn and Tru by Hilton brands. She previously served as vice president and global brand manager of Marriott International’s Fairfield Inn & Suites and Protea Hotels brands. Prior to that, she held marketing and brand management positions with leading organizations including Nestle, Unilever, Estee Lauder, Chanel Inc. and National Geographic. Buckley is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley.

Draper and Kramer Mortgage Corp. announced that one of the nation’s top-producing mortgage originators, Harinder Johar, has joined the company as director of residential lending. Scotsman Guide, a leading trade journal, has ranked Johar among the top 25 mortgage originators in the country by loan volume since 2010, and No. 1 in the publication’s national ranking for most loans closed in 2012.

Citrix Systems Inc. announced the election of Dr. Ajei S. Gopal, president and chief executive officer for ANSYS Inc., to its board of directors. Gopal has three decades of experience in the software and technology industry having served in leadership roles at Symantec, Hewlett-Packard, CA Technologies, IBM and, most recently, ANSYS. In addition, Gopal founded a startup in the early 2000s, and has served as an operating partner at Silver Lake Partners. He holds a doctorate and master's degree in computer science from Cornell University.

Square announced that Naveen Rao, corporate VP and GM of the artificial intelligence products group at Intel Corporation, has joined its board of directors. Rao previously served as VP and GM of artificial intelligence solutions from August 2016 to March 2017. In February 2014, Rao co-founded Nervana Systems Inc. and served as CEO until Nervana’s acquisition by Intel in August 2016. Before founding Nervana, Rao was a neuromorphic machines researcher at Qualcomm Inc. Rao’s earlier career included engineering roles at Kealia Inc., CALY Networks and Sun Microsystems Inc. Rao earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Duke University, then spent a decade as a computer architect before earning a doctorate in computational neuroscience from Brown University.

Inseego Corp. named Ashish Sharma to the newly created role of chief marketing officer and executive VP of IoT and mobile solutions. Sharma has been instrumental in building multi-billion dollar brands in the mobile industry for companies such as Qualcomm, Ericsson, Alvarion, FreeWave and Spectralink. Prior to joining Inseego, he was the CMO at Spectralink. Before that, he worked at Graymatics. He was also the CMO at IoT company FreeWave, as well as VP of marketing for Alvarion. He holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of District of Columbia, a master of science in electrical engineering from George Mason University, and an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in Finance, Marketing and Strategy.
