The U.S. India Strategic Partnership Forum sent its president Mukesh Aghi to take part in the Bengal Global Business Summit at the fourth annual event.

U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum president Mukesh Aghi recently joined industry leaders at the Bengal Global Business Summit at the fourth annual summit event.

The summit, themed “Bengal Means Business,” focused around the ways that Bengal is growing as the fourth largest state economy in India, with a 15.64 percent GVA and included industry leaders and speakers such as Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries and Tshering Tobgay, prime minister of Bhutan, according to a USISPF news release.

While visiting the summit, Aghi spoke at the Inaugural/International Plenary and met with local leaders including Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and Finance Minister of West Bengal Dr. Amit Mitra.

Aghi spoke about the energy sector, along with the food processing industry and need for agri-growth in the state, the USISPF said.

Additionally, Aghi invited the chief minister to the U.S. in 2018 to further promote the state’s investment objectives and meet with USISPF member companies and investors.

“West Bengal is a prime example of the work that states are doing under the Modi government to lead economic and industry growth, while also promoting good governance and inclusive development,” Aghi said in a statement. “I applaud these efforts and look forward to ways that USISPF can work to increase investment and trade opportunities between the U.S. and the dynamic state of West Bengal.”

USISPF took a delegation to the summit that included U.S. companies representing the healthcare and energy sector and the members met with Health Secretary of West Bengal Binod Kumar on the sidelines of the summit, the forum said.

As champions of the U.S.-India commercial and strategic partnership, we believe there is an unprecedented opportunity for business communities in both countries to play a larger role in the next chapter of this important bilateral-partnership, the forum noted.

USISPF is uniquely suited to work together with leaders in the U.S. and India to achieve our shared goals, it said.

Formed in 2017 by U.S. business leaders, USISPF has carefully selected some of the most powerful and strategically positioned Board of Directors for U.S.-India related matters. These members serve as both prominent business leaders and global influencers with an ability to impact international relations and corporate affairs worldwide.
