In the “legal advisor” category, the honorees included Deepak Gill, partner in the securities group at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; and Henrik Patel, partner at White & Case LLP in New York.

In the “service professional” category, winners included Navine Aggarwal, vice president of M&A at Allied World Assurance Company in New York; Sanjeev Parlikar, managing director at New York-based Accordion Partners; Dhwani Vahia, head of private equity marketing at New York-based S&P Capital IQ, a provider of data and analysis; and Shashi Yadavalli, partner at Deloitte Consulting in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio.

“In 2010, we initiated the ‘40 Under 40 Awards’ to recognize the emerging leaders of the M&A, financing and turnaround industries,” said David Fergusson, president and co-CEO, The M&A Advisor.

“It is our belief that this group of accomplished women and men will have a significant effect on the advancement of our industry. And it is our great pleasure to recognize them and provide a forum for them to meet and engage with one another.”

A gala will be held June 29 at the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan to honor the winners.

In response to Raman being named, Dan Lang, senior vice president of worldwide customer relations at Sutherland, said the Indian American executive “has proven to be a collaborator and leader entrusted with mission-critical initiatives at Sutherland. We are proud to see him honored with this well-deserved award and hope that it inspires others at Sutherland to follow his example.”
