MUMBAI — She has lent her voice to many songs, and Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt says she might release an album sometime in the future.
Bhatt has sung in films like “Kapoor and Sons,” “Highway” and “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya.”
When asked if she would like to come out with an album, Bhatt told reporters, “I definitely want to sing songs, but I am not a good professional singer. If I get opportunities like these, then I will sing. But my focus right now is on films. Later maybe, I might cut an album.”
The 23-year-old “Shaandaar” actress was speaking at the launch of “Ikk Kudi,” a song from her upcoming film “Udta Punjab.”
The song, composed by Amit Trivedi, has been sung by Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh, who also co-stars in the film.
“He (Diljit) has sung it beautifully. I am a big fan of him, his voice and his work. It is very interesting how he has sung the song in his own way.”
“Udta Punjab,” directed by Abhishek Chaubey, has been made after four years of research and is based around the drug-related problems prevalent in Punjab.
The film stars Shahid Kapoor as a high-on-drugs, rock star Tommy Singh, and Bhatt as a Bihari migrant. Kareena Kapoor Khan plays a doctor who is determined to fight the illegal transportation of drugs, while Dosanjh portrays a police officer.
The film is scheduled to release June 17.
